About Mosaic
Mosaic is a community-driven project built to spotlight local businesses and the people behind them. We believe small businesses don’t just sell products. They carry stories, dreams, and legacies.
Too often, amazing local places are overlooked simply because they aren’t visible. Mosaic exists to change that by sharing stories, building connection, and turning everyday people into supporters of their local communities.
This isn’t about chasing trends or big brands. It’s about giving small businesses the attention they deserve and reminding us that even one post, one visit, or one recommendation can make a real difference.
This project began with a personal story.

My Story
My Story
From a young age, traveling has shaped the way I see the world. I’ve visited more than a 23 countries, and one thing has always stood out to me. In so many places, tourism is the lifeline of the community. Without it, countless small businesses would struggle to survive. I started to realize that every time I bought something from a street vendor, a café, or a family shop I was supporting someone’s livelihood, even if I didn’t know their story.
That thought stayed with me, especially when I looked around my own neighborhood. I’ve noticed incredible local businesses places I visit all the time that barely get attention because people tend to choose big chains instead. There’s this amazing pizza shop I love, but since it’s right next to a McDonald’s, most people never give it a chance. Seeing that happen again and again made me care more about the owners who rely on customers just like me.
My passion for this also comes from something deeply personal. My grandmother, who passed away from cancer, owned a small shop herself. After she died, our family had to sell it, but her spirit and hard work still live on in that place. Thinking about her reminds me how meaningful these businesses can be to families and communities. They’re not just stores they’re legacies.
When I started interviewing local business owners for my project, many of them told me honestly that they face constant financial pressure. Weekdays are especially slow, and sometimes they go hours without customers. But their food, their products, and their stories deserve so much more. Every Saturday, my family and I eat at a local restaurant, and the meals are incredible yet the tables around us stay empty.
I’ve also seen how one moment of support can change everything. A small coffee shop near me barely had customers until my mom posted a picture with the owners and shared it around the community. Suddenly, people started showing up, and now the shop finally has steady business. That proved to me that sometimes all a local business needs is one boost, one chance, one voice speaking up for them.
